On visits to the quarry this week I haven”t had any sightings of and peregrines. Presumably the youngsters are now on their pilgrimages while the parents are about the territory.

Today the tiercel [male] was in residence on a lower ledge at the quarry. Last Wednesday 24th it was the female [falcon] roosting on one of the upper quarry ledges.
Good to see both of them around. Presumably the young have now left the area.
This afternoon we saw the tiercel and a female [couldn''t see whether it was the female or one of the youngsters] high over the quarry.
They were communicating then the female flew on down the valley while the male did almost a stoop-dive into the quarry and landed on ”his” ledge.
Sightings aren”t so frequent now. We don”t know if the youngsters are ready to leave the area or indeed if they have left.
Today the male [tiercel] was roosting on his favourite perch a small ledge on the quarry face above the camera.
Haven”t seen the female lately but others report that she has been seen near the quarry.
First - apologies for yesterday’’s entry I should have referred to Monday 11th!
This afternoon at least two of the young were roosting in the quarry trees. One flew to the bare tree on the opposite side of the valley. No cries so presumably they were well fed at the time. The leaves on the trees are still making it difficult to spot them.
Jim B has advised that yesterday Tuesday 11th one of the youngsters brought in a seagull to the quarry. It’’s unknown if the seagull was passed over by the adult.
Today both male and female birds have been seen bringing prey. the female rested on a ledge in the quarry then flew the male roosted in the ”watching ”tree on the other side of the valley. At least two of the youngsters were in the quarry trees during the day.
This afternoon all three of the eyasses were flying in the quarry and across the valley making quite a lot of noise presumably one of them had prey as one went to roost in the trees to the left of the quarry while the other two went to the trees near the waterfall and continued to call to one another [or maybe dispute who should have the prey?]
Today we had an afternoon when the tiercel sat on a ledge above the camera. He had come in with prey and given it to one of the youngsters who took it to a ledge lower down the quarry. A magpie [thieving type?] came behind her and started to snatch bits of the prey from under the young peregrine who plaintively shouted but did nothing to make the magpie leave Eventually the tiercel swooped on the magpie to give the youngster a bit of relief - but not for long - the magpie was back after a short interval by which time the youngster had had its fill so wasn”t particularly interested. A good afternoon. The tiercel went back to its perch and sat in the sun.
The birds aren”t much in evidence during the day now they youngsters seem to want to explore their surroundings away from the quarry.
